Christmas Fayre Success

Posted by mrwilliams - December 5th, 2008

On Thursday 27th November the school held its annual Christmas Fayre in the school. What must have been hundreds of parents, grandparents, children and friends of the school turned up to support the school once again. To date there will be almost £2000 taken from this event which will be used to buy equipment and resources for the school.

During the last year there has been approximately £8000 raised through Christmas and Summer Fayres as well as many other events. This has meant we have been able to buy Interactive Whiteboards, computers, mathematics euipment as well as suppport events such as parties and cinema visits.

A big thank you must go to all the people who helped prepare for the Christmas Fayre, parents, staff and Home School Association members who worked very hard in the run up to this event as well as on the evening. Without all your support, events such as these would not be the success they are.

May I also make an appeal to you all to get involved with the HSA. Meetings are held once a month in the school, the dates of meetings displayed in the school notice board. Meetings are not formal events, they can be fun but do rely on your support otherwise events such as the ones planned for the remainder of the year  may not take place.

Once again, thank you all very much for your support.

Charity Fundraising

Posted by mrwilliams - November 21st, 2008

We have recently been involved in raising funds for charities both here and abroad.

Children throughout the school have taken part in a sponsored spell/colouring activity to raise funds for the NSPCC. They help children throughout Britain as well as locally. To date the sum of £879.85 has been raised with more to come in.

A very big thank you must go to all the families that have supported this appeal. Monies raised will help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Fluorescent and Reflective Jackets

Posted by admin - October 13th, 2008

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The road safety section of Wrexham County Borough Council has provided school with yellow fluorescent and reflective jackets thanks to funding made available from the Welsh Assembly Government.

The Welsh Assembly Government is keen for us to promote the safety of children on and near our roads. The jackets are only being issued once due to funding restrictions. Therefore, we would be grateful if they could be returned at the end of the speing term. Each jacket has an individual number to identify its “owner”.

Please encourage your child/children  to wear the jackets particularly during the dark winter months.

Yours sincerely

Parking/Dropping off/Collecting children

A number of people have raised concerns about safety issues surrounding the dropping off and collecting of children at the roadside outside the school gates in the “zig zag control zone”. Parents have contacted the Police, who have begun to monitor the situation outside school; this could lead to prosecution in the case of breaches of the Highways Act.

It should be pointed out that these concerns are being addressed for the safety of all who attend this school.
